What is ki?
They were asking, what is ki? and Ohara-sensei said, an infinitely large gathering of infinitely small particles. Tohei-sensei was not a scientist, so he talked about it in terms of the Buddhist 'mu' (無). I read it in a book. Then one man said, I've been told it's 'life energy'? and he answered, yes, it is life energy. So I added, that means limited to living creatures? Ohara-sensei said, no, everything! That mat there has life energy. One day it will be old and falling apart. Of course then it will be recycled into the rest.

Welcome back! I had been getting worried. I hope everything is going well for you. Merry Christmas, Seasons Greetings, Happy New Year, and all that. :)

Thanks, Phillip, I have been going through a rough spot, but still working hard at practice. I probably won't continue putting up one entry for every practice, but only when I hear something that makes an impression.
Happy holidays to you, too!
It is interesting to know such "ki". I never heard it before. A strong energy and philosophy.
Hairan,
If you are interested in "ki", I suggest reading the book "Ki in Daily Life" by Koichi Tohei. Here is a link to information about the book: http://www.ki-society.com/english/renew/book.html. It is available from Amazon.com, too.
You can also search my blog for entries with the tag "what is ki".
